Our Health, Safety, Environment and Community responsibilities are integral within our operations. Complying with all relevant health and safety laws, regulations, and striving to achieve leading industry best practices.
Supporting a culture of transparency through hazard identification, incident investigation, reporting and mitigation, by establishing meaningful safety performance goals and encouraging continuous improvement. We regularly review our operations to measure progress in this commitment to ensure compliance.
Recognising that we all have a personal responsibility to prevent harm to ourselves, others and the environment. We share the responsibility for meeting our safety requirements by encouraging openness, trust, teamwork and involvement.
Collaboratively recognising and managing any risks identified with our work activities, and ensuring employees carry out their work tasks competently and safely. We promote wellness, mindfulness and healthy behaviours both in the work environment and in our daily lives.
GEM’s business management systems are accredited by Intertek SAI Global against Standards- Quality ISO 9001: 2015; Environment ISO 14001: 2015; and Health and Safety 45001: 2018.
Quality management
Our Quality Management System (QMS) framework ensures we are able to achieve high standards, with a commitment to precision in data quality, seamless project management, and operational efficiency.
Key components include:
- Document control: We use structured processes for document creation, approval, distribution, and maintenance. This process ensures our documents remain relevant, accurate and effective.
- Risk-Based Thinking: We adopt a risk-based approach which involves identifying, assessing, and addressing risks to achieve quality objectives and the consistent provision of quality services.
- Customer Focus: Our customer-centric approach ensures we meet customer requirements while striving to exceed customer expectations.
- Continuous Improvement: This is achieved by regular review, evaluation, and enhancement of the QMS to ensure ongoing effectiveness and efficiency.
- Process Approach: Where we identify, understand, and manage interconnected processes. Enabling us to achieve desired outcomes more efficiently.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Ensuring our suppliers meet specified requirements contributes to our ability to provide products or services conforming to standards.
- Competence and Training: Ensuring our personnel are competent for their assigned tasks and providing necessary training is crucial. This includes maintaining records of competence and training.
- Performance Monitoring and Measurement: We have established processes for monitoring and measuring our performance within the context of our Company goals.
- Internal Audits: We conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Corrective and Preventive Actions: We take a proactive approach in addressing non-conformities, taking corrective actions, and implementing preventive actions.
- Management Review: Top management conducts periodic reviews of our QMS to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy, effectiveness, and alignment with our strategic direction.
- Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Geophysical activities are subject to various regulations and standards. We align our procedures with these requirements, as a measure to reduce the risk of non-compliance.
Health & safety
We believe that all injuries, incidents and occupational illnesses are preventable and that incident, near miss reporting and investigation are of fundamental importance in their prevention.
Where we understand that incidents can happen, but will do all that we can to avoid repetition and focus on prevention. We implement corrective actions, increase awareness about safety issues, provide ongoing risk management education along with making improvements in our safety management systems.
GEM recognise safety behaviours and responsibility starts with each one of us. We encourage a proactive approach and in doing so, continuously improve our safety culture. Where we promote health and safety as a prime focus for the Company.
Environment & community
Our aim is to work in harmony with our surroundings, to minimise our environmental footprint. We operate our business in a respectful way, with the least amount of impact on the environment as our goal.
Design, operate and maintain facilities to ensure compliance with applicable permits, laws and regulations. In the absence of regulation, apply relevant industry standards to reduce environmental risks.
Report environmental hazards, monitor biodiversity issues and understand contributing factors to reduce the level of risk.
Encourage concern and respect for the environment, by emphasizing everyone’s responsibility in reducing our operational impact. We provide environmental management procedures, training and equipment to meet these expectations.
